Introduction

Magione is the main commerce town on the lake shores where you will find good grocery shops and beautiful mosaic covered furniture to buy. Magione also boasts its own castle dating back to 1160. The castle´s abbey became a hospital for the Templar knights and crusaders who were on they way to or way back from the Holy Land. Later the Knights of Malta made use of it and the castle took the name of Castle of the Knights of Malta. Visits are allowed in the summertime.
