Introduction

This town on the Lake Trasimeno seems totally devoted to holiday makers. The streets abound in restaurants, accommodation, icecream parlours and souvenir shops. The town affords its own medieval castle; however, unluckily it is not available to visitors. But its setting is perfect to capture a photo of this picturesque picture postcard building. On the way to Tuoro you will find Chiesa della Madonna dell’Uliveto which was constructed in the 16th century. Its sanctuary houses a Madonna depicted by Bartolomeo Caporali and an ornate holy water trough. A very picturesque celebration is the Palio delle Barche, an unusual race held at the end of July in which men representing different neighbourhoods carry a boat to the castle atop the hill.
